Overview

Visions in the Sea is an annual underwater photography conference held in the United Kingdom, founded in 1997 by Ocean Optics (a London-based underwater camera retailer run by Steve Warren) and Colin Doeg. The conference brings together speakers from across the underwater photography world for presentations, workshops, and an associated award.

The event became a key gathering point for European underwater photographers, with speakers routinely including the top names in the field.

History

1997 — Founded

Founded by Ocean Optics and Colin Doeg as a UK-based underwater photography conference ([1]).

2003

Held October 25-26 in London. Organized by Ocean Optics/Steve Warren. Alex Mustard and YUP won the Visions in the Sea Award. David Doubilet was a surprise guest. BSoUP (British Society of Underwater Photographers) and Scubazoo also participated. ([2], [3])

2004

Presented by Ocean Optics ([4]).

2005

Held October 22 at King’s College London. Speakers included Jason Isley (ScubaZoo), Charles Hood, John Collins, Peter Rowlands (UwP Magazine), Martin Edge, Alex Mustard, and Tom Peschak. ([5], [6])
